Don’t Let Daddy Know - Multiple Locations

Those who are in the know, know that these four letters are an anagram for the funny name of “Don’t Let Daddy Know”, a serious entertainment company, or more accurately an Electronic Dance Music brand. DLDN managed to gather eminent DJs to create, as they claim, “an exceptional reminisce of music”. In 2017 DLDK arranged unforgettable parties in Manchester, Amsterdam, Antwerp, Edinburgh, Mallorca, Istanbul, Mumbai, Bangkok, Hong Kong and even in Chile! Their, as DLDK calls them, “friends” include Tiesto, Tommy Trash, Steve Aoki, Nervo, Quintino, Showtec, Martin Garrix and many others. Electric Daisy Carnival – Chiba-shi, Japan

No official introductions are necessary for EDC corporation, it’s festival tours across the world are well known by electronic music fans. But this 2017 EDC was special as it was a debut for Japan, as it became their fifth international location, and second asian one, after recently opening EDC India. A vast variety of dancing music styes and an exclusive spirit was shared by the performers in April for the new audience on the grounds of Zozo Marine Stadium and Makuhari Beach, which were magically transformed into an amazing stage for incredible headliners. The entire place was classically divided into zones, aka Kinetic field, Circuit grounds, Neon garden and Boombox artcar, where different nonstop ultimate dancing parties took place. Electric Zoo - Shanghai, China

Not a debut, but an attempt to repeat the perfect start that took place in 2016, when the NY Electronic music festival first entered Asia with the dizzying success of a total sell out in the blink of an eye. In 2017 Electric Zoo - countdown was a one day event at  Shanghai Expo park on Nov. 12. After a couple of years with financial difficulties, the company tried it’s best to strengthen it’s positions in the new market. Open air, stylish stages with an animalistic design (Jaguar, Cobra, Mammoth etc.) with a fireworks display later on were worthy sidekicks to Sander van Doorn, Dada Life, Oshi, Codeko and other great performances. Ultra Music Festival - Miami, FL, USA

How can we skip this if we’ve already mentioned it? Who could have thought then, back in 1999, that a beach party would transform into a mainstay of the electronic music world? Nowadays we have an annual week-long multistage performance that attracts more than 150,000 native and foreign clubbers. This year was no exception, the scale of the event and the number of visitors maintained its incredibly high levels. In 2017 The Prodigy, Underworld, Justice, Chase & Status, Major Lazer, David Guetta and many others were invited to entertain the fastidious Miami audience. The multiscreen video show at the “resistance” area was awesome, not to mention the incredible fire-shooting giant spider. You can find an essential guide to UMF 2017 here, and the photos - here.

Kind of an afterword

Suffice to say, this review probably wouldn’t have a chance to be compared to the British Encyclopedia in terms of quantity of events discussed, but the list would become endless if we tried to mention everything, and there’s only so much you can read at one time! We depicted grand yearly events along with some lesser known, but no less engaging ones. You’re lucky if you were an attendee to any of those mentioned, share your experience with us! If not, well, keep dreaming, and maybe in 2018 you’ll be among those dancing at an extraordinary event, losing yourself in the magnificent dream worlds they create.
